Gital Gosai is a licensed Canadian Barrister and Solicitor. Gital earned a dual Canadian and American Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor (Faculty of Law) and the University of Detroit Mercy (School of Law). Prior to this, she graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in socio-legal studies and Criminology at the University of Toronto.
During her undergraduate studies, Gital spent her summers working as a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm. It was through this work and through her first few client interactions that she decided she wanted to pursue law school.
While in Law school, Gital took a keen interest in International Human Rights and Refugee law. She was a founding member and advocacy coordinator for the first of its kind Human Rights Law Association of Windsor (HRLAW). She also volunteered with Rainbow Railroad, where she assisted in conducting research and writing reports on various topics such as global statistics on the mental health of older 2SLGBTQIA women. She later went on to obtain the Stitt Feld Handy Social Justice Fellowship, which she carried out with the FCJ Refugee Centre over her 2L summer. In her third year of Law school, Gital became a teaching assistant for the Immigration and Refugee Law class, where she also had the opportunity to assist her professor on an expert opinion for a notable statelessness H&C application.
After law school, Gital carried out articling and obtained post-articling experience at a well established Immigration firm in Toronto. This is where she had the opportunity to work on a number of different Immigration matters. She obtained first hand experience preparing Refugee claims, Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds applications, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, Spousal Sponsorships, Start-Up Visas and various different types of Work Permits.
As a second generation immigrant herself, Gital's experience spanning various legal settings makes her a compassionate, dedicated and passionate advocate for her clients. Outside of work she enjoys interior design, literature, writing journalistic pieces and engaging in various forms of visual art including painting and photography.
