Does the New IELTS Indicator Test Comply With Canadian Immigration Requirements
"In Today's era of volatility, there is no other way but to re-invent. The only sustainable advantage you can have over others is agility, that's it." - Jeff Bezos, Founder, Amazon
As the pandemic continues, businesses and organizations have been grappling with innovative ways to make services more accessible during this time of uncertainty. There have been vast transitions to virtual based services as a way to meet customer demands and to ensure the safety of Canadians.
The International English Language Testing System ("IELTS") is an example of an organization that has re-invented itself during this pandemic. IELTS has recognized the difficulties for in person testing due to their services being suspended or limited in certain countries. As a result, they have introduced for a limited time, an online based test, called the IELTS Indicator. With this new service, you can get your test results within 7 days. However, for individuals considering applying for economic immigration to Canada (i.e. Express Entry), you should not do the IELTS Indicator test. According to IELTS, the IELTS Indicator is not accepted for economic migration to Canada. The reason why IELTS Indicator would not be accepted by the Canadian government for permanent residency is because it is an Academic test. Pursuant to the Government of Canada website, only the General Training option will be recognized.
There are some advantages to foreign nationals looking to apply for permanent residence in Canada as it does gives them the an opportunity to practice and test their skill set in the comfort of their home.
